A methodical approach is considered that has been developed in the process of using the astronomical technique for investigations of high-Ti formations which may be reservoirs of such resource materials as ilmenite (FeTiO3) and He-3. For better understanding of spectral peculiarities of lunar ilmenite content materials the simulation of lunar maria soils was made by mixing powdered terrestrial ilmenite and basaltic samples. Comparison of the spectral characteristics of simulated and lunar powdered high-Ti basaltic samples shows their close similarity. Some recommendations are proposed for the case of investigation of ilmenite content units on the Moon from space.
