Considerable geochemical application can be made of component activity data for crystalline mineral solutions. As such data is very difficult to obtain directly, several workers have devised schemes for generating thermodynamic data which is consistent with available phase equilibria information. This note demonstrates that different phase diagram decomposition models yield very different thermodynamic data sets which may be equally consistent with the phase equilibria.
