Strong chromospheric and spot activity of HR 1362, unusually high for its rotation period of 335 days, is interpreted as due to a primordial magnetic field, independent of stellar dynamo action. It is argued that HR 1362 was a magnetic Ap star during its main-sequence evolutionary phase. The most likely, estimated properties of its main-sequence progenitor are similar to a well-known magnetic star 53 Cam. The presence of the strong lithium line in spectrum of another evolved star, HD 181943, which is also overactive for its rotation period, supports the hypothesis of the magnetic Ap star origin of both stars.
