As its designers anticipated, HST's increased angular resolution (over that from the ground) and ultraviolet->red wavelength coverage would enable star clusters, and particularly their crowded cores, in the Milky Way and nearby galaxies to be probed in unprecedented fashion. The successful refurbishment mission is allowing realization of that potential. This brief review will highlight representative HST results from star cluster research that are providing significant new insights into problems as diverse as star formation and evolution, to the formation of galaxies.
