Photometric photometry was obtained for beta CrB on eight nights, all within one day of the magnetic maximum of this star, in order to clarify whether or not this is a rapidly oscillating Ap (roAp) star. No coherent oscillations were detected down to a level of 0.34 mmag using narrow-band filters close in wavelength to Johnson B. This implies that beta CrB may not be an roAP star despite having characteristics that are very similar to those of known roAp stars.
