We present a new and simple method for the determination of a digital Point Spread Function (PSF), utilizing the approximate circular symmetry in stellar images of normal quality. Using an optimal estimation of total intensity and object centering, the application of this type of PSF is found to be comparable to analytical or semi-analytical modelling, e.g., that employed in the DAOPHOT package (Stetson 1987). Further improvements are suggested.
