The W UMa system XZ Leo has a spectral type A7. In 1982, its period of 0.487735 days underwent a lengthening of 0.14 sec. A photometric analysis, based on B and V light curves, is presented. A preliminary unspotted solution was obtained by the Wilson-Price synthetic light curve program. The light curves were better approximated by introducing hot spots on both components near the neck region of the common envelope, to interpret the observed light curve asymmetries. The analysis indicates that XZ Leo is a slightly evolved, hot contact binary, which undergoes partial eclipses.
