Astronomers Kunegunda Belle, Don Hoard, and Steve Howell are observing the eclipsing cataclysmic variables EX Hya and DQ Her with Spitzer on August 18 and 23, repectively. They request ground-based V light curves spanning the observation intervals so that they can identify the state each variable is in during the Spitzer infrared observations. EX Hya (orbital P = ~98 min) has eclipses that dip to about 14V from its usual magnitude 13V, and DQ Her (orbital P = ~280 min) has deep eclipses going to below 18V from its usual 14.5V. V-band time series data (signal/noise = 30) are requested at least one day prior to, during, and one day after the Spitzer observations. Please submit your observations to the AAVSO International Database.
