Cross sections for excitation by impact of 50 eV electrons were obtained for 17 lines of singly ionized titanium in the 300-460 nm wavelength range (direct excitation accompanied by ionizations) using a crossed-beam method with photoelectric recording of the optical signal. The 17 transitions were found to have cross sections varying from 2.5 to 17 x 10 to the -18th sq cm. Six optical excitation functions were also measured which indicate the variation in the cross sections as the energy of the exciting electrons increases from threshold to 250 eV. It is noted that spectral lines of the Ti II ion are encountered in stars of many spectral types.
