The first meridian circle of China has been installed at CSAO in Apr 1990. The optical system has been adjusted accurately based on the primary installation. Because of the constructional characteristics of the horizontal meridian circle, there are some difficulties for the adjustment. However, the practice has verified that the method of approximating step by step is very successful. Now the optical system has reached the required level.
