Observations in the blue and red regions of the spectrum of the binary system V471 Tau show that the chromospheric activity of the K2V secondary star is phase dependent. H-alpha has been detected clearly in emission and is also phase dependent. The spectrum of the white dwarf primary is isolated, and the photometric temperature T approximately 35,000 K is confirmed. A radial velocity curve of the K star is given, and it is shown that the orbit is circular.
