Scientific paper

From the marginal stability condition for a system created under the collapse of a collisionless spherical cloud, the universal energy distribution for stars with low angular momenta is derived. The distribution coincides qualitatively with that resulting from the recent N-body simulations. It should take the place of the well known Lynden-Bell distribution, which cannot be reproduced in the simulations mentioned.
