A theoretical investigation of the radiation field in a homogeneous infinite medium at large optical distances from a point source is presented with reference to processes occurring in dust nebulae where the point source is the illuminating star. An asymptotic expression for the radiation intensity is found in terms of the inverse powers of the optical distance tau from the source. In the case of a small true absorption, the radiation intensity is expressed as a double power series of 1/tau and the diffusion coefficient.
