Novel expressions, simpler than any previously obtained, are given in integral form for the derivatives of the fractional loss of light functions that are required for the interpretation of the observed light changes of eclipsing variables. This is done with respect to the fractional radii and projected separation of their centers, in terms of modified Bessel functions of the second kind. The results obtained are used in establishing new asymptotic formulae for the computation of 'boundary integrals'. Bipolar coordinates are then employed to establish novel expansions for the fractional loss functions that are valid for any type of eclipse, converging faster than the expansions of the cross-correlation integral of the fractional loss functions that have so far been established.
