Massive polytropic spheres with isothermal cores are discussed within the framework of general relativity theory. The matching of the two solutions in the core and envelope at the core boundary, their stability under radial pulsations and slow rotation are studied. Two methods are used for matching, one of which adopts the condition H = 0 as given by Bondi (1964) and which exists within every spherical structure, and another which ignores that condition. In the study, core size is varied for the equation of state P = rho/3, and the ratio of core size to total size, core mass to total mass, and surface redshifts. It is shown that since the condition H = 0 does not correspond to any particular physical situation the maximum values of fractional core size, fractional core mass, and the redshift do not occur at H = 0; they occur at some other point. The maximum values for M(core)/M, R(core)/R, and the surface redshift are respectively 0.473, 0.554, and 0.565.
