Based on the extensive photographic photometry obtained by Moffat and Vogt (1974), cluster membership has been determined for about 3200 individual stars in the fields of NGC 457, NGC 7380 and IC 1805. The statistical method is briefly described. A comparison with the results of a proper motion study in IC 1805 (Vasilevskis et al., 1965) is quite satisfactory. Because of the faint limiting magnitude (mv ≡ 17), the pre-main-sequence was clearly detected in all three clusters. The widths of the pre-main-sequences and the fact that they are not parallel to theoretical isochrones, are interpreted as a real age spread of a few 106 years. In all three clusters an indication of a halo of faint stars was found. In the extremely young clusters NGC 7380 and IC 1805 membership candidates which probably have extended atmospheres (like T Tauri and Herbig Ae stars), were identified in the colour-colour diagrams. Other, integral data for each cluster is also presented.
