Scientific paper

This issue of the bulletin of the Astronomical Society of India contains papers presented at the International Conference on 'Windows on the Sun's Interior'. Although the internal layers of the Sun are not directly observable, it is possible to deduce the structural properties and dynamic processes operating in the solar interior. Two diagnostic tools are (1) neutrinos generated in the nuclear reaction network operating in the deep solar core which yields the measured neutrino counting rate, and (2) helio-seismology. Also, data from the Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) and the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) should help clarify a number of outstanding problems in solar physics.
