The Geneva-Copenhagen Survey of the Solar Neighborhood (Nordström et al. 2004) provides accurate, multiple radial velocities for a magnitude-complete, all-sky sample of ˜14,000 F and G dwarfs to V ˜8.5 mag., volume complete to ˜40 pc. Using Hipparcos-based distances and proper motions, we compute complete space velocities and galactic orbits, which can be reliably followed for ±˜500 Myr. The kinematic data are supplemented by newly computed metallicities and ages. We also identify most of the binary stars in the sample. By design, this study complements the much-quoted paper by Edvardsson et al. (1993) in being free of metallicity-dependent selection biases and providing much better statistics, although without detailed abundance data for each star. Classical disk evolution models fail every classical test with the new data.
