All singular points, as well as their separatrices, are investigated for the Einstein equations in a homogeneous Bianchi type IX cosmological model with moving matter. A power-law asymptotic expression for the metric in the presence of material motion is obtained which generalizes the Taub expression. Typical metric states at an early stage in the expansion are analyzed, and it is shown that these states depend on the value of a certain integral associated with the velocity of matter.
