The paper gives a summary of the most important facts concerning a supernova explosion which took place in the year 1006 A.D. according to medieval chronicle sources. The supernova appeared in the constellation Lupus, and the apparent maximum brightness of the phenomenon is estimated to have been in the range from -5 to -8. It is also estimated that the distance of the object lay between 1.2 and 4.0 kiloparsec. In 1965, what are probably the remains of this event were discovered by radio telescope. The relevant area of the sky in Lupus is shown mapped at 47 cm, while a detailed map of the object at 6 cm reveals the polarization structure. The supernova of 1006 would be the earliest supernova recorded in history which has been identified with a radio source, unless the event reported in a Chinese chronicle from the year 185 A.D. is correctly associated with one of seven radio sources in Centaurus which are believed to by supernova remnants.
