The structure of chondroids from the Luna 16 and Luna 20 specimens of lunar regolith was investigated. The chondroids studied were apparently formed by three separate processes: spontaneous crystallization from completely melted spherules in the supercooled state; crystallization of glassy spheres in the solid state; solidification of partially melted spherules, including components of the fine fraction of the regolith. The chemical composition of the first two types corresponds to bedrock types of the anorthosite-northite-troctolite series. The type of chondrite formed is dependent on the location, force of impact of the meteorite, and the composition of the original material.
