It is shown that Jupiter may be a star whose radiation is furnished by
deuterium burning reactions. The energy reserves stored in deuterium are
sufficient to maintain the observed luminosity of Jupiter at its present
level for one trillion years, which exceeds the present age of Jupiter
by roughly two orders of magnitude.
