In the present paper, the three-dimensional pattern of solar wind interaction with a model ionosphere of Venus is studied by numerical simulation. The calculated distributions of the plasma and magnetic-field parameters in the transition region and the ionopause are given and discussed. It is shown that in the interaction between the solar wind and the ionosphere, a significant magnetic field, which is associated with the finite dimension of the ion Larmor radius, is generated in the ionopause and that the field's amplitude (defined essentially by the transport mechanism of the field through the ionosphere) may be up to 10 times that of the interplanetary field. Ions precipitating into the ionosphere are decelerated within a layer whose thickness is comparable to the ion gyroradius.
