Deep near-IR photographs of the galactic-center region are discussed which were obtained in the hope of locating some globular clusters associated with X-ray sources. No globular clusters are found, but two stellar-appearing objects are observed at the position of Sgr A (West). It is concluded that an image of the galactic nucleus was probably (2-sigma result) recorded on the plates. An absolute visual magnitude of -10.2 is estimated for the nucleus of the Galaxy; this value is shown to be in close agreement with the absolute magnitude of the nucleus of M31.
