Interplanetary particle fluxes measured by the Giotto EPA experiment are examined. The EPA consists of three semiconductor telescopes with varying orientations. For the 60 hour period monitored, significant variations in the directional characteristics of the particle fluxes are observed. It is determined that the particle enhancement observed in region 1 are due to particle flow along the antisolar direction, and the region B increase is related to the crossing of the bow shock. Consideration is given to the amount of energy which can be gained by pick-up ions in the solar wind. The EPA data on heavy ions are compared with ICE data for the Comet Giacobini-Zinner.
