The deceleration of the rapidly rotating core of a component in a close binary system is considered. It is assumed that there is eddy viscosity in the layer between the core and the outer shell, which is subject to dynamical tides. Some characteristics of the turbulence in this layer are determined. It is assumed that the torque imparted to the viscous layer by the core is equalized by the torque due to the dynamical tides. Under this condition, the characteristic time for angular-momentum loss by the rotating core is determined. For a cold satellite in a system such as U Gem it may be about 10 million years or even more.
