Results are reported for observations performed in blue light with an area-scanner photometer in order to determine the relative flare incidence of EQ Peg (M6 Ve) with respect to its brighter companion BD plus 19 deg 5116A (M4 Ve). Seventeen flares were observed, of which six (35 percent) occurred on the brighter component and 11 (65 percent) on the fainter star. Several values are given for the mean time interval between flares from the system. It is noted that in three different cases, the B component flared up while a flare of the A component was in progress. Mutual flare triggering between binary components is considered, and a list of 39 binary or multiple systems located within 25 pc of the sun and containing at least one UV Cet- or By Dra-type component is provided.
