A method for obtaining the C/O elemental abundance ratio for high excitation H II regions is discussed. This is then applied to rederive C/O for the Orion Nebula from previous IUE observations using improved atomic data and extinction corrections. It is also found that C/H is ≡20 - 40% lower than previously determined. When recombinations contribute importantly to [O II] 2470 and 7325 Å emission, the authors caution against use of these lines for assessing the O+ ionic abundance with the so-called empirical method.
