P Cygni line profiles extracted from high dispersion spectra of central stars of planetary nebulae IC 418, 2149, NGC 6826, 6210, 7009, 1535, 3242 are analysed by profiles calculated with the Sobolev source function for pure scattering. In the winds of most objects the velocity increases rather slowly with radius (β = 4). In some well observed nebulae the authors find evidence for ionization stratification. The derived column densities of C IV, N IV, N V, O IV, O V, Si IV are correlated with the nebular excitation. This indicates that the ionization in the wind is governed by the stellar photons. The derived mass loss rates are about 10-7M_sun; a-1, higher than predicted from empirical mass loss formulae for population I stars.
