The ultraviolet studies of galactic novae both in outburst and also in quiescence have provided new and fundamental data on these exploding stars. As a direct result of the IUE spectral studies, a new class of novae is identified in which the outburst occurs on an ONeMg white dwarf. Ejected masses, elemental abundances, and ultraviolet light curves are determined for a wide variety of nova outbursts.
