High resolution millimeter/sub-millimeter-wave spectroscopic studies were performed on several gas phase iron containing free radicals using a newly designed and constructed spectrometer. Spectroscopic parameters such as rotational, fine structure, magnetic hyperfine structure, electric quadrupole, and lambda-type doubling constants were determined, using a non-linear least-squares fitting routine of an effective Hamiltonian. The interpretation of these parameters has resulted in an increased understanding of structural and bonding characteristics of iron-containing species. The experimentally determined parameters and bond lengths have been compared with previous experimental results and ab initio calculations when available.
