It is proved that the assumed expansion of the solar corona must be reflected in a change of shape of coronal line profiles in dependence on the height above the photosphere. Equations are presented which describe this change for the coronal emission line 530.3 nm and its dependence on the rate of expansion with height is determined. It was found that the expansion contributes to the widening of coronal lines. This hypothesis requires experimental verification.
