Regarding the formation of cosmic dust, condensation and thermal alteration have been considered as clues to the formation mechanism and environments experienced by dust. Unfortunately, however, the formation mechanisms of many types of dust found in meteorites are still unidentified. Carbyne crystals found in carbonaceous meteorites are also one type of enigmatic mineral dust. We show a new route for the formation of cosmic carbyne crystals via synchrotron radiation as a more favorable driving force than condensation from hot gas. Carbyne crystals were produced under a coronal photon flux corresponding to 32 days at a heliocentric distance of 5 AU, which corresponds to the orbit of Jupiter, with respect to the young Sun. The novel method of synthesizing carbyne crystals will be useful for understanding the material evolution of carbonaceous dust.
