Spectroscopic observations of HD 199178, obtained at 390-900 nm using the 1.6-m telescope at Black Moshannon Observatory during April-October 1985, are reported. One-dimensional spectra are derived and used to calculate radial and rotational velocities. Rotational velocity of 80 km/s (suggesting a coalesced binary) and no variation greater than 2.0 km/s in the heliocentric radial velocity are found. The emission and absorption features are attributed to a combination of a relatively steady global component and transient events, with evidence of a significant hot corona.
