Clumps 1 & 2 are giant molecular clouds of unusually large line-width associated with the bar of the Milky Way and are located just a few degrees away from the Galactic Center. We present fully-sampled maps in 13CO (J = 2 - 1), CO (J = 4 - 3) and [CI] (3P1 - 3P0) with a velocity resolution of 0.6 km/s, a spatial resolution of 2 arcmin, and an area of one square degree, requiring over 10,000 spectra in each transition. Using a large velocity gradient (LVG) analysis we show the tidally shocked nature of the gas as it interacts with the bar-shaped gravitational potential of the Milky Way.
