The authors have searched for a magnetic-dipole rotation transition of the isotope 16O18O toward ρ Oph and Orion A at a wavelength of 1.3 mm. Upper limits on the intensity of this line imply that N(O2)/N(CO) ≤ 0.13 and 0.67 in the two sources, respectively, so that neither harbors a hitherto-undetected reservoir of oxygen in molecular form.
