Earlier optical observations of the AM Her object E1405 - 451 have shown variability on timescales of about 2 seconds in this object. The present observations show this variability to be due to quasi-periodic oscillations with a coherence time on the order of 1 minute. The broad frequency distribution of the oscillations in time-averaged power spectra is caused both by frequency drift and by the simultaneous presence of more than one oscillation frequency. The color of the oscillating radiation component makes it possible to identify it with the cyclotron radiation and therefore locate the oscillations in the accretion column. If the oscillations are interpreted as the oscillation in shock height predicted by Langer et al. (1981, 1982), they may provide a powerful probe of the structure and physical conditions of the accretion column.
