It is the purpose of the paper to demonstrate that it is possible to combine the advantages of the partial coherent scattering (PCS) approximation with the favorable numerical properties of the Rybicki method. To accomplish this goal, the author carries out an analysis which indicates the way of accounting for Doppler diffusion within the framework of the PCS approximation. The essence of the present method consists in considering the frequency that sets the boundary between the complete redistribution core region and the coherent wing region to be depth-dependent. From the mathematical point of view, the present modification is purely at the computational level and thus retains the ease of formulation and programming of the original Rybicki method.
