A simple model of cooling of SNIIP at the plateau stage in a cooling wave regime is used to express the duration of plateau tp through supernovae parameters, viz., mass of ejecta, energy, and radius of the presupernova. In contrast to the standard diffusion time estimate, the cooling wave model leads to the dependence of tp on the radius of the presupernova. For typical values of parameters of SNIIP the duration of plateau tp turns out to be close to 100 days in agreement with observational data.
