The various components of the space radiation environment are examined, including the radiation belts, solar-flare radiation, cosmic rays, and the solar wind. The impact of the environment on space vehicles is then considered, with particular attention given to the cumulative dose and heavy ions. The influence of orbit parameters is taken into account in this evaluation.
