We present the latest results from our deep infrared survey of the Galactic bulge which we are conducting as part of ChaMPlane (The Chandra Multiwavelength Plane Survey). Using the CTIO 4m telescope with ISPI imager we have observed a 1.5x0.5 degree strip covering more than 50 archival Chandra fields in order to study the stellar counterparts to X-ray point-sources in the Bulge and foreground Galactic Plane.
These observations greatly extend our recent work on the Galactic Center Region (see Laycock et al 2005, astro-ph/0509783). In combination with the X-ray data, JHK photometry can distinguish the approximate line of sight distance and reddening to point sources. Repeated IR imaging shows promise for identifying variability in potential counterparts on short and long timescales.
