The author reports here on calculations by Drake (1985) and Drake and Linsky (1986) for the Mg II k line of Arcturus (α Boo, K2 III), assuming a spherically-symmetric chromosphere, two-level Mg+ ion, and angle-averaged redistribution functions. These calculations were based on an original program kindly provided by Paul Kunasz and modified to include partial redistribution of this particular type.
