Scientific paper

This paper presents the results of ISOCAM-CFV spectral images between 5 and 16.5 mu m of the planetary nebulae, NGC 6543, NGC 7027, NGC 6302, NGC 6720, BD+30degr 3639, VY 2-2, and of the proto-planetary nebula CRL2688. All the nebulae, except VY 2-2 are spatially resolved in the continuum and in the different spectral features. Integrated CVF spectra have been obtained for each nebula, and the line fluxes have been measured for the observed fine-structure ionic lines and infrared emission bands. From the continuum-subtracted images we have analysed the morphologies of the different emission features, and from the deconvolved images and the relative surface brightness distributions, we have derived their sizes. ISO is an ESA project with instruments funded by ESA Member States (especially the PI countries: France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom) and with the participation of ISAS and NASA.
