QUaD is a new CMB polarization bolometer-array experiment, designed for high-sensitivity measurement of the E-mode power spectrum out to an l of 2400. I will describe the instrument design and performance. The telescope is a ground-based, on-axis, 2.64-m Cassegrain on the South Pole DASI mount. The focal plane is composed of 31 polarization-sensitive bolometer pairs split between 100 and 150 GHz observation, each pair instantaneously sensitive to a single Stoke's parameter. The instrument was installed at its South Pole site over the 2004--05 Austral Summer and recently completed its first season of Austral Winter observation. The instrument performed as planned and minimal changes will be made for the 2006 season.
