The 'fast Fermi process' - the acceleration mechanism of electrons in nearly perpendicular shock waves - uses in its formalism the assumption of adiabatic behavior of electrons. Using the direct-electron-trajectory calculations in model shock fields, it is proved that this formalism is valid also for keV-electrons despite the fact that these electrons do not behave adiabatically in the shock layer.
