An apparent relation between the initial explosion energy E0 and observed diameter D has been found for the supernova remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud, as well as in other galaxies. Once the size of the remnant and the electron density in its cooling filaments are known, the determination of the initial explosion energy depends on a number of assumptions that are discussed in this paper. The authors also present the E0-D relation expected from a population of adiabatic remnants, expanding in media of different densities and with a spread in initial energies derived from optical and X-ray data. It is shown that such a population of adiabatic remnants can account for the observed E0-D relation, as for the Σ-D and N-D relations discussed in a previous paper.
