We present results of our recent theoretical efforts to describe the equation of state (EOS) of hot, dense matter for supernova simulations. We have investigated a number of liquid drop and droplet models for the EOS with varying nuclear force parameterizations and with varying models of heavy-nuclei neutron surface effects. These models are parameterized in terms of measurable nuclear force parameters which can be experimentally constrained. We have automated the process of building thermodynamically consistent EOS tables (which can be used by existing supernova simulation codes) for these EOS models. We describe our algorithm for doing so along with the thermodynamic behavior of these EOS models. Finally, we present some initial results on the effects of EOS variations on the dynamics of core collapse supernovae based on radiation-hydrodynamic supernova simulations which we have recently carried out.
