Results of a full 12-h synthesis observation of the double quasar 0957+561 obtained by the Very Large Array (VLA) at 6 cm are reported which relate to the interpretation of the double quasar as a gravitational lens image. Observations were made using 22 antennas with baselines between 45 m and 22.4 km to obtain a map with a resolution of 0.66 by 0.41 arcsec FWHM and a dynamic range of 200:1. The radio jet of the B quasar is resolved into a point source and interpreted as a compact radio source in the nucleus of an intervening galaxy. The map obtained places constraints on quasar models, in particular ruling out those models in which the gravitator is located near the midpoint of the line connecting the quasars. Experiments are currently under way using VLBI to constrain models in which the B quasar is double and measure the time delay between the arrival of the images.
