Scientific paper

The paper discusses the Kirin meteorite which is large chondrite from Kirin Province, China. Two largest fragments contained Ar-40/Ar-39 approximate fusion ages of 3.63 and 2.78 b.y.; the age spectra show diffusional Ar loss profiles. The Ar-40/Ar-39 found in a gas released at low temperature were about 2.2 b.y. for the K-1 and 0.5 b.y. fragments indicating that this meteorite may have undergone two discrete collisional events which resulted in degassing of radiogenic argon. Calculations from Ar-38 data show exposure ages for samples K-1 and K-2 of about 5 m.y. similar to other H chondrites.
