We present 21-cm emission and absorption spectra of galactic neutral hydrogen towards 45 extragalactic sources, observed with the Arecibo radio telescope. These new data complement the previous H I emission/absorption observations at Arecibo (Dickey et al., 1978). The present absorption spectra are compared with the corresponding ones obtained at (Crovisier et al., 1978) and the reliability of the Nancay H I absorption survey towards weak sources is discussed. Significant differences are found between the absorption profiles towards several pairs of sources with small angular separation, and are consistent with HI structure on a scalelength of ∼one parsec.
